Joshua ‘Vendetta’ Nash: FIG LEAF | Breakin' Convention 2019

Masculinity and toxic masculinity are questioned in a duet that explores what it means in today’s society and why there is a need to suppress emotions to feel like the alpha. Where does true masculinity and strength lie: In the tough exterior or our vulnerable interior?
Joshua Nash is a dance theatre artist whose movement language is focused on hip hop and krump. He is a core member of Botis Seva’s company Far From the Norm, with performance credits including Sadler’s Wells 20th anniversary triple bill Reckonings, Channel 4 Random Acts, BBC Performance Live with Studio Wayne McGregor, Crying Out Loud international festival tour and SiDance Festival. With a recent focus on creating his own theatre work, Joshua aims to uncover a theatrical way of using his “krumpesque” movement language and to translate the social culture to the stage.
Created during Back to the Lab, Breakin’ Convention’s professional development course.

Choreography: Joshua ‘Vendetta’ Nash
Performers: Joshua ‘Vendetta’ Nash and Jordan ‘Ruckus’ Douglas Music: My Panda Shall Fly
